In Memory
Loyd G. Sullivan
Loyd Sullivan started to trap for fur during grade school in his native Texas and continued to be involved in the fur business all of his life. He was a vital part of the Chinchilla industry for 48 years until his death in 1990.
A passionate believer in the industry, Loyd was committed to aiding the young rancher. He felt that they were the life-blood of the future and said he never failed to learn something from them. In their enthusiasm, they were not afraid to try new ideas and, as an old-timer set in his ways, Loyd was often surprised to find that these innovative concepts would indeed work.
He was convinced that the day would come when full-time pelting ranches would be viable and he worked hard at promoting pelt production, both at the dressing level and as chairman of the Chinchilla Industry Council for over ten years.
Loyd was the guiding light behind Chinchilla Ximoco in Mexico, a ranch devoted solely to Standard pelt production.
